Session Overview
Often, people start in a role and get promoted to higher positions because they perform that role well. However they are sometimes not skilled or experienced in management. This is not only found in RTOs, but across a number of business types.
This session explores the theme of leadership and is aimed at those who have ended up in a leadership or management role without necessarily having formal training. This type of transition to leadership can be challenging and, in RTOs, has specific implications.
The session combines a mix of leadership theory, case studies and practical work. Participants undertake a short survey to identify their leadership style and brainstorm in groups their top two challenges. Collectively participants source possible solutions, with me providing suggestions that apply at a ‘whole of RTO’ level in this highly interactive session. Bring your thoughts and questions along and hear me share my stories and experiences.
